Chuck “Charles” G. Mooi, 80, of Rolling Prairie, passed away peacefully at 11:55 a.m., Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Miller’s Merry Manor, New Carlisle. He was born December 4, 1937, in Evergreen Park, IL, to Harry and Jennie (Langland) Mooi. Chuck was a business owner of Mooi Auto Body, Michigan City, for 20 years.

He formerly attended First Church of God, La Porte, with his wife, Barb. Chuck enjoyed watching old westerns, weekly trips to Meijer’s, Michigan City, to have coffee… Read More » and donuts with his buddies and get the chance to tell jokes. He was an avid White Sox fan.

On August 31, 1956, in Chicago, IL, he married Barbara “Barb” Ruth Mooi, who survives. Also surviving are five children, Mike (Debbie) Mooi of Grandview, WI, Brian (Debbie) Mooi of Michigan City, Debra (Mark) Hudson of Pauls Valley, OK, Kimberly (Larry) Mooi-Burns of Rolling Prairie and Dale (Meggan) Mooi of Michigan City; thirteen grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers, Herman, Pete and Ken Mooi; and two grandchildren, Andy Weber and Keri Mooi.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018 at First Church of God, 2020 E. Lincolnway, La Porte, Indiana, 46350.
