Clara Mae Powell, 79, of Smiths Station, AL passed away Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Canterbury Healthcare. A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm EDT, Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Interment will follow at Girard Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm EDT, one hour before the service, at the funeral home. Ms. Powell was born July 16, 1939 in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late Era Kahn Powell and Sara Moore Powell. She retired as a seamstress from Fieldcrest Mills, formerly Muscogee Mills.

Ms. Powell was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Phenix City, AL. She is survived by three sisters, Susie Powell Groover of Smiths Station, AL, Becky Powell Valdez and husband Mike of Smiths Station, AL and Erakah Powell Robertson of Phenix City, AL; two nieces, Phyllis Groover James (Shane) and Felicia Groover Dawson (Dean); three, nephews, Blake Muldrew, Camon Valdez and Eli Robertson; great-nephews and niece, Drew Dawson, Weston Dawson, Slade James and Summer James; extended family and friends.
