Obituary for Clarence “Sonny” Heflin Jr. Clarence Edward “Sonny” Heflin Jr., 84, former owner of Heflin & Heflin Construction, husband of Mildred Bramel Heflin, died Friday, June 1, 2018, at the Hospice Care Center. He was born February 17, 1934 in Fayette County, son of the late Clarence Edward Heflin Sr. and Pearl Frances Martin Arnold. Sonny attended Bourbon County schools, was a former member of Paris Kiwanis Club, active in Relay for Life, honorary member of Girl Scouts, served on the Paris Police Department from 1955 to 1965, and was a member of Spears Mill Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Mildred, Sonny is survived by four children, Bruce Heflin, Mark (Cindy) Heflin, Laura Heflin, Paula Heflin; four sisters, Delma (Adrian) Arnold, Phyllis (Merrill) Means, Alice (Doug) Turley, Becky (Danny) Hatton; special friends, Patty and Steve Moore; eight grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, George Arnold; stepmother, Ruth Myers Heflin; a great grandson, James Ryan Mitchell; and two brothers, Pat Heflin and Teddy Jackson. The family expresses special appreciation for the wonderful care provided by Bluegrass Hospice Care.
Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home by Rev. Charles H. Kemp with burial in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Casket bearers will be Steve Moore, Doris Waters Jr., Doug Turley, Danny Hatton, Daniel Bramel, and Richard Bramel.
Honorary bearers will be James Bramel, Ed Bramel, Woody Bramel, Lanny Arnold, Jeff Arnold, and Dr. C. Ray Young. Visitation will be after 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Paris Animal Welfare Society or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
