Cleda Irene “Susie” Clayborn, 96, of Vassar, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Midland Hospice Care. Private family inurnment is planned at Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Kansas. Susie was born January 14, 1922, in Pleasanton, Kansas, the daughter of John and Martha Seals.

She lived in Kansas City, Kansas for 27 years moving to Garnett, Kansas. In 2003, Susie moved to Vassar. Susie was united in marriage to Lethal “Shorty” Clayborn September 7, 1954, at Eureka… Read More » Springs, Arkansas.

He preceded her in death on July 10, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Betty Fowler; five siblings, Jim Kellum, Peggy Kellum, David Seals, Bill Seals and Jeff Seals. Survivors include her two children, Dennis Clayborn of Fort Scott and Michel Clayborn of Vassar; two siblings, Margaret Kellum of Raytown, Missouri and Bobby Kellum of Aurora, Missouri; two grandchildren, Ryan Dark and Butch Dark both of Kansas City, Kansas; and two great-grandchildren, Russell and Phillip Dark both of Kansas City, Kansas.

Susie was an L.P.N. at Bethany Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas and was also a building superintendent at Business Men’s Assurance, Kansas City, Kansas. She enjoyed fishing, picnicking, shopping and going to garage sales. The family suggests memorial contributions to Midland Hospice Care c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
