Connie Ellen Smith, Age 70, of Laura, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Miami Valley Hospital. She was born May 8, 1948 in Springfield, Ohio, to her parents Lloyd Thorne & Betty (Terry) Parrish. Connie graduated from Xenia High School class of 1966.

She retired after 26 years of employment at the Dayton Daily News as an advertising sales representative and progressed to management. She enjoyed spending time with good neighbors and friends and traveling with her husband, Leroy, to their trailer in Michigan where they fished. She loved to cook and enjoyed trying new recipes and sharing with family and friends.

She greatly loved flowers and shopping but the last few years of online shopping kept the FedEx, UPS, and the mail carriers busy at Christmas and family birthdays. Most of all, Connie loved being with her children and their families. She battled physical muscular atrophy disease for the past 16 years but always remained positive with a smile.

She will be missed and remembered by her loving husband of 42 years Leroy Smith; daughters and sons-in-law Carrie & Kurt Ullery of West Milton and Michele & Matt Logsdon of Kettering; sons and daughters-in-law Rob & Colette Greenwald of New Madison, Marty & Donna Greenwald of Huber Heights; grandsons Dustin and Zach Greenwald, Blake, Shane, Kade Ullery, Jared Logsdon; granddaughters Cailee Greenwald, Chloe Logsdon, Mallory Dues; great grandchildren Conner, Lydia, Maple, and Baker; sister and brother-in-law Carol & Bill Shortridge of Sebring, Florida; brother and sister-in-law Doug & Kathy Thorne of of Xenia; lifelong friend Charleen Castonguay of Xenia. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather Joe Parrish. Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, October 16, at Hale-Sarver Family Funeral Home, 284 N. Miami Street, West Milton, with interment following at Riverside Cemetery, West Milton.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 PM Monday and 9:30-10:30 AM Tuesday at the funeral home. If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Online memories may be left for the family at www.
