Constance Conroy (Ward) Bowes age 74 of Scituate passed away peacefully on July 18th after a four and a half year courageous battle against cancer. Connie was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary Ward. Connie was raised in Hyde Park.
For over 50 years she was the beloved wife to Patrick J. Bowes (Scituate FF), her college sweetheart from Boston State College. Loving mother of Katie (Bowes) Prendergast, husband Tom of Marshfield and Patrick J. Bowes Jr, wife Jen of Hull. Proud and adoring grandmother to Tommy, Kevin and Jack Prendergast of Marshfield and Patrick Bowes of Hull.
Sister to Robert Ward, Nancy Bjorneby (Paul) and Mary Allen (Scott). Sister in law to Robert Bowes, Ellen Contreras, Margaret and Dave Best, Mary Murphy, Leo and Louise Bowes, Dorothy and Bob Boyle, Anne and Pat Burke and the late Catherine Ryan and Pauline Donovan. Cherished Aunt to: PJ and Beth Bjorneby, Amy and Matt Allen, Tavo and Hans Contreras, Phanie and Liz Pierce, Mike Murphy, Brian and Emily Bowes, Dan, Matt and Mike Donovan,Patricia Boyle, Brendan, Liam and Alana Burke.
Mrs. Bowes had been an elementary school teacher in Randolph for over 38 years she had also worked as a teaching vice principal. She was an extremely dedicated and accomplished teacher, a career which began in Orange County, CA, while her husband was stationed at Camp Pendleton with the US Marine Corps. At all times she put her students first.
Many years she received The Boston Globe Golden Apple Teacher Award. In the past Mrs. Bowes had been a dedicated parish member to St. Francis Xavier Church where she was a daily communicant and taught CCD. In her retirement Connie did substitute teaching in the Scituate Public Schools and took care of her grandsons.
In her spare time Connie enjoyed spending time with her family, going to the Scituate Public Library, and traveling. Prior to Connie’s courageous fight with cancer she and her husband Pat enjoyed traveling to: Naples FLA, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, and Ireland. Most recently Connie traveled to Ireland to be with her cousins the Creamers of Cappamore Limerick for one last time.
Family and friends are invited celebrate Connie during visiting hours on Monday, July 23 from 4-8 pm in McNamara-Sparrell Funeral Home, 160 So. Main St. (across from St. Anthony Church), Cohasset. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, Cohasset.
