Obituary for Cora L Quimby Cora L. Quimby, 109, passed away on Sunday November 4, 2018 at Marshall Health Care in Machias. Cora was born March 4, 1909 in Machiasport, ME, the daughter of the late James Everett Proctor and Mary Emma “Robinson” Proctor. Cora was the last surviving of 11 daughters, as a young girl, she worked briefly at a local factory in Machiasport.

Cora was predeceased by Husband Norman Quimby August 11,1980, son Faunce Quimby March 3, 2004 and daughter Betty “Quimby” Wood March 22, 2013. Cora spent most of years raising her family in Bucks Harbor, Maine, in the late 60’s Norman and Cora moved to Boston, Massachusetts with Son Danny and Wife Jean, they returned home to Bucks Harbor in the 70’s. Cora loved to read until the very last and spent her earlier years quilting.

Cora received the Boston cane in 2013, for being the oldest resident of Machiasport, She was the oldest person in the state of Maine. Cora is survived by son Daniel Quimby and Daughter-in-law Jean Quimby, 12 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 29 great great grandchildren. Special Niece Luis “Ingalls” Sprague and Nephew Robert Ingalls.
