Conelius “O.V.” Overton age 66, passed away surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born on December 20, 1951 the son of Donald and Rita (Mitchell) Overton. Cornelius was a 1970 graduate of Decatur High School.

After graduation he attended the Merchant Marine Academy in New York. Cornelius “O.V.” was united in marriage to the former Jacqueline Russell on May 1, 1971 in Lawton, Michigan. He was a proud Union pipefitter/welder out of Local 357 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union for 45 years.

He was an active member and officer of the Labor Council for 30 years. Cornelius “O.V.” was also a Board Member and Officer for 11 years with the Tri County Labor Council and an active member of the APRI President for over 30 years. He was an avid golfer and bowler.

Cornelius also enjoyed riding his Harley and driving his corvette. He will be dearly missed. Cornelius is survived by his loving wife of 47 years; Jacqueline, daughter; Janise Overton-Buckner; son in-law; Brian Buckner, granddaughter; Alexis Buckner and grandson; Drake Buckner, brother; Michael Overton and his wife Barb Silveria, nephew; Justin Overton and several cousins and friends.

Cornelius was preceded in death by his mother; Rita and daughter; Mychelle. There will be a gathering for family and friends to celebrate from 1:00-3:00 PM Friday, May 18, 2018 at the Local 357 Plumber Pipefitters Hall, 11847 Shaver Rd. , Schoolcraft, MI 49087.

In lieu of flowers, those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider the American Lung Association of Michigan.
