Daniel Thompson, of Beacon and formerly of Seaford, Delaware, departed this life on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital in Peekskill, New York. He passed away after a short illness, at the age of 76. Daniel was born on Thursday, October 16, 1941, to proud parents, Ethel Prattis and Joseph R. Thompson.

Daniel received his education at Frederick Douglass School in Seaford, Delaware, and consequently, left Delaware for the bright lights of New York City. Daniel attended Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford, Delaware, and was always willing to lend a helping hand in whatever capacity he could, including playing the organ. For many years, Daniel was a singer.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by four brothers, Joseph, Jr., Alvin, Tony, Charles Prattis and one sister, Martha Dailey. Daniel leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter, Dannette Thompson-Saunders of Bear, Delaware; former wife, Shirley Murray Thompson of Greensboro, Maryland; two loving sisters, Margie Cooke and Barbara Jean Savage, both of Seaford, Delaware; two grandchildren, Raven and Ryan Saunders of Bear, Delaware; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service was held in Seaford, Delaware on Sunday, February 24.
