Danny Ray Owsley, age 86, of Greenbrier passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2019 at NorthCrest Medical Center. Arrangements entrusted to Austin & Bell Funeral Home, 2619 Hwy 41 S., Greenbrier, TN. The family will receive friends 10am to 11am on Friday, February 15, 2019 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier and a Memorial Service will follow at 11am with Bro.

Jon Briggs and Bro. Steve Sorrells officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery in Dover, TN.

Mr. Owsley was born November 11, 1932 in Nitro, WV to the late Ray and Helen Margaret Poff Owsley. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Emma Frances Owsley and son, Keith Dwayne Owsley. He served in the US Army and was a school teacher / Coach in Stewart County, Jo Byrns and Greenbrier High Schools.

While at Greenbrier he started the Dixie Youth Baseball program. He also coached basketball and football. He was an alderman in Greenbrier, President of the Robertson County Educators Association, member of the Lions Club and American Legion.

He is survived by children, Daniel Owsley of Greenbrier, Patricia (Jim) Rue of Springfield, Pam Owsley of Springfield; brother, Dexter (Susie) Owsley of Nitro, WV; grandchildren, Devan (Karen) Owsley, Emily Owsley, Noah Owsley; great-grandchildren, Raiden Owsley and Ryann Owsley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made at any F&M Bank to the Owsley Student Scholarship Fund.
