Darrell Jensen April 02, 1938 – November 16, 2018 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Darrell Jensen, 80, of Langdon, ND, passed away Friday, November 16, 2018, at Valley Eldercare in Grand Forks, ND. Darrell was born April 2, 1938, in Washburn Township, Griggs County, North Dakota, to Maynard Alexander Jensen and Edith Evangeline (Elvrum) Jensen. Darrell was baptized April 16, 1939, at the family residence and completed bible instruction May 31, 1953, at Bethlehem Evangelical Free Church in Cooperstown.

He attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Cooperstown High School on May 24, 1956. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1960-1966. He began working in the banking industry as a bookkeeper in 1956.

In June 2000, Darrell received an award from North Dakota Bankers Association for 44 years in banking service. He retired in 2002 from Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Langdon as vice president. He served on their board of directors from 1999 to 2008.

Darrell married Patricia Sharon Erickson on June 11, 1966, at Bethlehem Evangelical Free Church in Cooperstown. He was a member of United Lutheran Church in Langdon. He was a charter member of Langdon Eagles Aerie #3454 where he was past president, treasurer and trustee; was a past commander, vice commander and director of Langdon American Legion Post #98, was a past director of Cavalier County Senior Meals & Services; was a member of Langdon Vocational Advisory Committee for 10 years; and served as director, secretary, treasurer, vice president, and president of Lake Region Chapter of Bank Administration Institute.

Darrell enjoyed listening to music – having many records, 8-tracks, cassettes and CDs; camping at Larimore Dam; golfing; traveling and visiting family. He was an avid collector with a wide variety of interests. After retirement, Darrell and Pat enjoyed spending the winters in Harlingen, Texas.

Darrell was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Pat, of Langdon; siblings: Richard (Marcel) Jensen of Meridian, ID, Marlowe (Bill) Fortune III of Brainerd, MN, Larry (Jennifer) Jensen of Moorhead, MN, Elizabeth (Emory) Babolian of Fargo, ND; sister-in-law Caroline (Kevin) Scott of Sioux Falls, SD; nieces and nephews: Bill (Margo) Fortune IV, Shawn (Shannon) Fortune, Cory Perry, Andrea (Jason) Nilson, Connie (Charles) Rieck, Kent (Maria) Jensen, Kristin (Paul) Krug, Suzanne Babolian, Erica (Ben) Gloor, and Ryan Scott; aunts Doris Walen and Oliviene Hefta; and many cousins, great-nephews, and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; infant brother Clayton; cousins: Jerry, Aurel and Audrey Jensen, Vivian Walen; and several aunts and uncles.

A funeral service for Darrell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at United Lutheran Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Friday, November 23, 2018, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Cooperstown Cemetery in Cooperstown, ND.
