MANTUA David A. Haylett, 71 years of age, passed away Wednesday October 3, 2018. Born in Ravenna, Ohio on February 28, 1947, he was the son of the late Arthur E. and Ardith (Dunkerton) Haylett. Mr. Haylett was a lifetime Mantua resident, and graduated from Crestwood High School in 1965.

Mr. Haylett was the owner-operator of Haylett’s Corner Store in Mantua, which he prided himself for serving his community with quality service. Over his lifetime Mr. Haylett was a local leader who truly cared for his customers, and being there for them. He was a talented Bass Guitar player and enjoyed playing the saxophone.

David was an excellent photographer, and had a passion for collecting model trains and building his operating layout for the enjoyment of family and friends. David is survived by his sons Kelly Haylett and Shawn (Jennifer Enzman) Haylett both of Mantua, and his sister Kathy (John) Ramsay of Hiram, and his grandchildren Trevor, Toby, Jewels and Kaytlin. He was preceded in death in 2009 by his wife Mary Helen Haylett and his son Ricky A. Haylett in 2015.

No calling hours. A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday October 9, 2018 10:00 A.M. at Hillside Cemetery in Mantua Village, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to the Portage County APL.
