David Daniel Averill, Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan formerly of Merrill Beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at his home. He was 38 years old. David Daniel Averill, Jr. was born on June 21, 1980 in Saginaw, Michigan to David Daniel Syed and Michelle Lyn Averill.

He was a 1998 graduate of Swan Valley High School. Following graduation, David attended Delta College to pursue a career in nursing. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy and later the United States Army, serving eight years before receiving his honorable discharge.

David was employed by Covenant HealthCare as a CNA and the United State Postal Service as a mail carrier. He was a member of American Legion Post #439, VFW Post #7302 Hemlock/Merrill and Saginaw Masonic Lodge #77. David was of the Catholic faith and attended services regularly.

He enjoyed fishing, wrestling and football, especially, his favorite team the Michigan Wolverines. David also enjoyed watching horror films. Above all, he loved and cherished his family, especially his children.

He will forever be remembered for his confidence, love, kindness, bravery and heroism for serving his country. Surviving are his wife, Kristy Averill of Lansing; three children from previous marriages, Victoria Averill, Mariah Averill and David Averill, II. , all of Saginaw; a Godson, Madias Ralston; mother, Michelle Lyn Averill of Chesaning; father, David Daniel Syed of Saginaw; five sisters and one brother, Amber (Pedro) Cruz of St. Charles, Krystle Syed of PA, Michaela (Ryan) Dolan of Birch Run, Lola (Quent) Morris of HI, Bryanna Danjin of Chesaning and Joynal (Kayla) Syed of St. Louis; grandfather, Robert Averill of Merrill; grandmother, Patricia (Bruce) Denno of Saginaw; and a best friends, Matt Walker and Aaron Jenei.

Also surviving are many loved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Donald and Delores Syed; and a nephew, Pablo Cruz. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at W. L Case and Company Chapel, 201 Miller Road.

Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate.

Burial and Military Honors will take place at a later date under the Auspices of the United States Army. Friends are welcome to visit the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Averill Family c/o Amber Cruz.
