David’s Obituary David H. Meyer, 87, of Belle Fourche died Thursday, March 28, 2019 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born October 22, 1931 in Minatare, Nebraska to Dave and Alma (Britthower) Meyer. David attended school in Newell and Belle Fourche.

He entered the United States Army in May of 1954, serving in France and Germany. He was honorably discharged in May of 1956. He went to work for the South Dakota Department of Transportation where he worked for 39 years until retiring in 1991.

David married Connie Hise in June of 1958 and to this union they had two daughters, Kim and Kay. His favorite hobbies were bowling, camping, fishing and attending his girl’s and grandchildren’s school and sporting events. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Connie; daughters, Kim (Tom) Cooper of Belle Fourche and Kay (Vic) Reid of Nisland; 4 grandchildren, Brandon (Kelly) Cooper, Stephanie (Patrick) Votroubek, Jess (Carrie) Cooper and Bradley Reid; 3 great grandchildren, Cora Cooper, Emma Votroubek and Brooks Cooper; brothers, Elmer Meyer of Amarilla, TX; Walt (Delilah) Meyer of Belle Fourche and Harold (Margaret) Meyer of Rapid City; sister, Virginia (Lynn) Schmidt of Belle Fourche; brothers-in-law, Ron (Dee) Hise and Jack Hise all of Nisland and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Meyer; sisters, Mary Jane Meyer and Dorothy Thornburg. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 3 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Kline Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 4 at 10:30 am at St. James Lutheran Church in Belle Fourche with interment following at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fouche.

The family suggests memorials to the Hospice of the Northern Hills.
