David J. Frauendorfer, proud father and grandfather, succumbed to the effects of ALS on Sunday, May 13, 2018 in Madison, Nebraska at the age of 62. David was born on April 30, 1956 in Norfolk, Nebraska at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital to Alvin and Marcella (Karella) Frauendorfer and then spent his childhood in the Humphrey and Madison area where he attended St. Leonard’s Catholic Church, went to elementary and high school, and graduated with a GED in 1974. After high school, David worked at Lindsay Manufacturing and then as a truck driver before moving to Marquette where he worked as a supervisor at Bonnavilla Homes in Aurora.

After many years of also working a part-time job as a roofer/sider, he started his own business Frauendorfer Construction which he operated until moving to Countryside Home in May of 2017. His time battling this disease was spent with so many caring people. David’s wishes were to extend his sincere appreciation to all of his family, friends, and caregivers who so selflessly gave of their time, talents, and love to care for him at these most difficult times.

He and his family could not have fought this fight without all of you! Besides his business filling his time, David dedicated over twenty years to the Marquette and Central City rescue/fire departments as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He took pride in helping others and volunteering his time to these departments.

His free time was filled with a variety of activities, he enjoyed such as gambling, shooting explosives, coin collecting, being a jokester, and traveling. But, most of all, David truly enjoyed every minute of time he spent with his children and especially his grandchildren. They were always able to make him smile and fill his heart with love.

David is survived by both of his parents; five sons Jerimie (LeAnn) of Madison, Jason (Kari) and Nathan (Deb) of Norfolk, David Jr. (Amanda) of Marquette, and Daniel of Nashville, Tennessee; one daughter Stephanie of Franklinville, New York; two step-daughters Silvina Santana-Smith (Eric) of Polk and Melissa Ortiz (Billy) of Grand Island; twenty-four grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five siblings Bob, Jane (Bob), Arthur (Christine), Bette (Rick), and Keith (Julie) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
