David L. Spriet, Sr., 86, of Rock Island, passed away Thursday November 22, 2018 at home. In accordance with his wishes, private graveside services with military honors will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Arrangements are entrusted to Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave.

, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. David was born March 30, 1932 in Davenport, Iowa, a son of Charles and Thelma Koehler Spriet.

He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy, Davenport, Class of 1949. He first married Delores Nicholson. She preceded him in death on September 18, 1980.

He later marred Bonnie Steines on December 31, 1987 in Hampton, IL. David was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was employed at Alcoa for over 10 years, and owned and operated Dave’s Dew Drop Inn, Moline, for many years.

He was a member of the East Moline American Legion and the Erie Country Club. He was an avid golfer and achieved a hole-in-one at the Erie Country Club. He enjoyed movies and a good dessert.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie, of Rock Island; son and daughter-in-law, Dale (Laurie) Spriet, Moline; stepchildren, Diane, Linda (Marty), Brad (Amanda), and Robert (Julie); grandchildren, Andy (Susan), Dena, and Jamie; step grandchildren, Krystal, Jessica, Justin and Alex; two great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and other family. David was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; sons, Daniel Spriet, David Spriet Jr. and Dean Spriet; brother, Charles Spriet, Jr.; and his sister, MaryAnn Todd.
