David Lee First September 25, 1942 – March 20, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card David Lee First, age 76, of Warsaw, Missouri, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born on September 25, 1942, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Hunnas and Darlene (Giesel) First. David graduated from Durant High School, after which he enlisted in the United States Air Force, spending time primarily in France and Germany.

Following his honorable discharge, David moved to Chicago and attended DeVry University. While working at Motorola in Chicago, David met and married Kathy Sweeny on June 24, 1967. This union was blessed with Amber Dean First.

The family moved to St. Louis where David worked several jobs in the field of electricity and electronics. They later moved to Edwards, Missouri, where the union was again blessed with Kele Marie First. Once in Edwards, the family farmed, David worked several jobs, including construction and at Bishop’s Gunstocks.

David settled into driving a school bus for the Warsaw School District until his retirement in 2004, Oh the stories he could tell! In approximately 1977, “Preacher Dave” started working in jail ministry, which became a true passion for him. David was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Nancy.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathy, of the home, two daughters, Amber First, of Warsaw, and Kele First, also of the home, grandsons, Brandon Beauchamp, and his children, of Illinois, Jeremiah Dorney, and his children, of Oklahoma, a sister, Angela Kass, of Iowa, double aunt, Phyllis First, of Iowa, double cousin, Patricia Juchter, of Iowa, double cousin Larry First, of Nevada, many nieces, first cousins, other relatives and friends. Memorial services for David will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 30, 2019, at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, March 29, 2019, also at the funeral home.

Memorials in honor of David can be made to either the Convoy of Hope or the Springfield Victory Mission, in care of Reser Funeral Home, POB 910, Warsaw, Missouri, 65355.
