Willis Reed Baxter June 22, 1948 – March 14, 2019 Share this obituary Upload Photo| View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Willis Reed Baxter, age 70, of Holt, Missouri, passed away at his home on Thursday, March 14, 2019. He was born on June 22, 1948 in Howard’s Ridge, Missouri, the son of Herdie Lee and Virgie Lou Trivitt Baxter. He went to high school in Gainsville, Missouri and graduated there in 1966, He then joined the United States Navy and served in the Vietnam War.

He was discharged in 1971 and moved back home for a time and then moved to Warsaw, Missouri to work on the Truman Dam Project. He met Rose Marie Breshears in Warsaw and they were married on November 21, 1979. They moved to South Carolina for a time where he worked on another dam before moving to Kansas City in 1984 where he worked for Fordyce Concrete until his retirement in 2008.

Reed loved to garden and take care of his yard, which looked like a golf course. He also liked to fish, do woodworking projects and building things, he loved to tinker with things and could usually figure out how to fix just about anything. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Charles Baxter, who died in infancy, Eddie Lee Baxter, and Johnny Ray Baxter.

He is survived by his wife Rose, of the home, two daughters, Heather Marie Baxter, of Gardner, Kansas, and Felicia Nichole Baxter Spence, and her husband, Travis Lehman Spence, three grandchildren, Alexis Rose Baxter, Trenton Lehman Spence, and Tucker Reed Spence, one great-grandson, Nathaniel Johnathan Ray Pearson, many other relatives and friends. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Reser Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Warsaw. Graveside services and Military Honors will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 A.M, at the Spring Branch Cemetery in Avery, Missouri.

Memorial donations in honor of Reed can be made to North Kansas City Hospice in care of Reser Funeral Home, POB 910, Warsaw, MO 65355.
