Obituary for David R. Simon David Ray Simon, Sr. 64 of Cross City passed away April 24, 2018. Mr. Simon was born July 26, 1953 to the late Emma and Horace Simon, Sr. in Beaumont, Texas, but had lived in the Cross City area for the past 11 years after moving here from Detroit, Michigan. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Deacon at the Refuge From the Storm Ministry in Cross City.

In his spare time, Mr. Simon volunteered at the Cross City Rehab and Health Center, where he often played his guitar for the residents. Mr. Simon is survived by his wife of 47 years Evelyn Simon, his sons David Simon, Jr., James Simon (Rose), and Leonard Simon, his brother Horace “Pop” Simon, Jr., his sisters Mary Grace Rawlins, Martha Simon, Patricia Simon- Foots, Elsie Barlow, Wanda Murphy, and Joyce Johnson, eight grandchildren, and other extended family members. A memorial service will be held in honor of Mr. Simon at a later date.
