OBITUARY David Wayne Lutz January 11, 1949 – July 28, 2018 David “Wayne” Lutz, 77, of Hickory, passed away to be with Jesus on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Conover Rehab. Born January 11, 1941, he was the son of the late Alias Lutz and Lottie Buff Lutz. David retired in 2006 from a long printing career.

He loved sports, especially the Washington Redskins. He was meticulous about his yard and landscaping. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Marion John Allen Lutz.

David is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Judy Heavner Lutz; daughter, Karen (Scott) Waddell; step-daughter, Kendra (Jason) Moree; sister, Betty Rhoney; grandchildren, Evan, Averie, Maddocs, Lincoln, and Dakota; nephew, Allen Wagner (Kim), and nieces, Cindy Caldwell (Greg), Jan Hewitt (Ric), Sara Keeter (Randy), and Peggy Loftin (Gerry). A Celebration of his Life will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory with Rev. Rick Crouse officiating.

A private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 1: 45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Caldwell Hospice and Paliative Care, 526 Pine Mountain Road, Hudson, NC 28638.
