Deborah D. Urffer, 68, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday at home following a long, hard-fought battle. Deborah was born in Pottsville, Oct. 10, 1949, a daughter of the late Daniel and Betty Zimmerman Urffer.

In addition to her parents, Deborah was preceded in death by her lifelong companion, John Salata, and her sister, Diane Fessler. She was employed as a licensed cosmetologist, as well as a teacher. As a cosmetologist, Deborah often formed strong friendships with many of her clients.

Deborah opened her home and heart to everyone, and friends quickly became like family. She was a member of Jerusalem Lutheran Church, Schuylkill Haven. Deborah is survived by three daughters, Danette Mahute, Denise Smith, companion of Jerry Ibanez, and Joleen Williams.

Deborah is also survived by four sisters, Trinette Mengel, Pamela Hale, Suzann Wood and Teresa Ryan; one brother, Daniel, husband of Carla Urffer; grandchildren, Dex, Cynjinh, Darbi, Coby, Dawson, Paris, Chase, Aubre and Addie; great-grandchildren, Dayton, Nash, Zain, Ryliegh, Levi and another on the way. She also had a large extended family, including many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev.

Brian Reading officiating. A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. until the start of the service Monday. Interment will be privately held at the family’s convenience.
