John William “Spare Parts” Rehrig, Sr., 73, of Pine Grove, passed away Wednesday, July 11th, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Schuylkill, E. Norwegian St., Pottsville. Born in Palmerton, PA on March 24, 1945, he was a son of the late William H. & Margaret C. (Norrison) Rehrig. He was the husband of Linda Lou (Whiteman) Rehrig.

John gradated from Palmerton High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a Pennsylvania State Trooper from 1967 to 1989. He had also worked for Cressona Textile, Fidler Brothers Construction, Billig Trucking as a driver, and Napa, delivering parts.

He was given the nickname, “Spare Parts”, as the owner and operated his own transmission shop. In addition to his wife, John is also survived by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Rehrig Cougle, Pottsville & her husband, Barry Cougle, Bernville, a son, John W. Rehrig, Jr. & his wife, Marsha Kramer Rehrig, Pine Grove, three grandchildren: Lane Robert Rehrig, John Timothy Cougle, and Dale Thomas Rehrig, and nieces & nephews. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers: Richard & Robert Rehrig, and sister-in-law, Annette Rehrig.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 21st at Fidler’s Dam, 272 Hidden Valley Rd.
