Deborah Jo Fields Lodge was born on February 28, 1960, in Bastrop, Louisiana. She transitioned to eternity with her Lord on October 17, 2018, in Plano, Texas, at age 58. Deborah graduated from Delta High School in MerRouge, Louisiana.
She went on to attend Southern University where she served as chaplain of her senior class and the Student Government Association. She completed her undergraduate degree at Texas Woman’s University in Denton, Texas. Later, she earned her Master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas.
Deborah began her career at American Airlines where she supported the reservation system. She worked at AT&T where she supported various telecommunication products. At IBM, she supported their online banking system.
She worked as a network engineer at All State Insurance. Deborah left All State to become an entrepreneur. In 2006, alongside her husband, she co-founded Starwood Capital LLC, a business incubator and venture capital firm which focuses on supporting start-up businesses through direct investments, providing business development services, access to capital, private placement, and executive recruitment.
Her role as managing partner allowed her the platform to pursue her passion for finding a cure for cancer, specifically by assisting start-up biotechnology companies that applied nanotechnology in medicine. She married the love of her life, Conrad, on June 11, 1988. The two remained united until her transition.
At an early age, Deborah accepted Christ at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church in Collinston, Louisiana, under the leadership of Rev. Freddie L. Smith, Sr. At Galilee, she served as a Sunday School teacher and sang in the choir. At the time of her transition, she attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Plano, Texas, where she served under the leadership of Pastor Isaiah Joshua.
At Shiloh, she was a part of the Sister to Sister mission ministry under the leadership of First Lady Joshua. She also supported the ministry of her cousin, Senior Pastor Sam Fenceroy, and the Mount Olive Church of Plano family. Deborah helped establish several ministries throughout the community and enjoyed supporting the Special Olympics, North Texas Kidney Foundation, Diabetes Association, Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Frisco Family Services, Arms of Hope Ministry, and the Minority Business Development of Frisco.
Most notably, Deborah was an elected precinct judge in Tarrant County and was passionate about protecting the voting rights of all citizens. Among many hobbies, Deborah enjoyed traveling, her biblical ministry blog (FaithBookFamily.org) which acquired a global following, and public speaking. She was delighted to be a part of Toast Masters which enabled her to become a skilled public speaker.
She was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Deborah was predeceased by her parents, Guy Fields, Jr. and Willie Mae Deadmond Fields. Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband of 30 years, Conrad Lodge; sister, Caroline Thaxton and her husband, Eric, Sr.; sister, Kewana Vaughan; niece, MaKeisha “Lexi” Vaughan; nephews: Eric Thaxton, Jr. and his wife, Janice, Phillip Thaxton and his wife, Geneva, and Terrence “Guylan” Fields-Reese; great-nephews: Jachai, Eric III “E3”, and Phillip, Jr. “PJ”; aunts: Alberta Jacobs, Rosie Mae Robinson, and Dorothy Parker; uncle, Charles Williams and his wife, Helen; and a host of other cousins and friends.
