Denise Lynn Owens, July 21, 1962 — September 28, 2018

Obituary for Denise Lynn Owens Denise Lynn Owens, 56, of Ottawa, KS passed away Friday, September 28, 2018 surrounded by family at her home. She was born July 21, 1962 in Fort Fairfield, Maine the daughter of Frederick E. Dionne and Kathleen J. (Snover) Dionne. She grew up and attended schools in Maine and Connecticut.

On January 26, 1980 she was united in marriage to Mark I. Owens in Naugatuck, Connecticut. They shared over thirty-eight years of marriage. They moved to Kansas in 1995.

Denise worked at the Ottawa, KS Wal-Mart in the Electronics Department as Manager for over ten years. She later worked as a Cook at the Central Heights School in Richmond, KS. Denise currently was an Assistant Store Manager at Dollar General in Ottawa, KS.

Denise enjoyed crafts, especially working with plastic canvas. She also enjoyed playing Yahtzee and Cribbage with family and friends. While working at the School she enjoyed interacting with the kids.

Denise will be remembered for her strong and spunky personality, spending time with her family and her smile shining the brightest, while holding her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Mark Owens of the home; her daughter, Vicki L. Maurer and her husband, Christopher of Springfield, MO; two grandchildren, Jaydin and Gabriella Maurer; two sisters, Melanie Dionne and Susan Frable both of Richmond, KS; two brothers, John Dionne and wife, Penny of Ottawa, KS and Fred Dionne and wife, Helen of Oakley, KS; her mother, Kathleen J. Dionne of Richmond, KS; grandmother, Joni Smoke of Florida; several aunts and uncles; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her father, Fred Dionne; two sisters, Renee and Renell Dionne; a brother-in-law, Paul Frable; her grandparents, Mildred and Robert Snover and Madeline and George Dionne.

To celebrate Denise’s life, the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home, 325 S. Hickory, Ottawa, KS 66067.
