Dennis Ralph Strayer, 67, of Newton, formerly of Algona, died on Saturday, September 22, 2018, at his home. No services are scheduled at this time. Memorials to Newton Fire and Ambulance may be left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.

Dennis, the son of Ralph and Irene (Fitzgerald) Strayer, was born on December 20, 1950 in Algona. He lived in Algona for most of his life and worked as a bulk oil delivery driver for DX. He also served on the Algona Fire Department for 20 years.

Dennis loved being outdoors and enjoyed racing, hunting, and fishing. He also collected agricultural items. For the last ten years, Dennis had lived in Newton.

Dennis is survived by his children, Tim (Diana) Strayer of Newton and Shelly (Wade) Jager of Eddyville; the mother of his children, Linda Bradford of Oskaloosa; grandchildren, Cassie Strayer and Jake Strayer of Kellogg and Devin, Abby, and Sadie Jager of Eddyville; step-son, Sean Dyson; his sister, Becky Thilges of Algona; and his nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Jerry Thilges.
