Obituary for Derek M. Olliver Mr. Derek M. Olliver, 87, husband of Mary Ellen Harper Olliver, passed away Friday, October 19, 2018 at Conway Medical Center following an extended illness. Born August 10, 1931 in Great Britain Mr. Olliver was the son of the late Eustace Ronald Olliver and the late Dorothy Maude Smith Olliver. Mr. Olliver served in the British Merchant Marines and while growing up in England he played field hockey, cricket, and soccer.

After immigrating to the United States in 1968 he formed a soccer league in the Seattle, WA area and coached soccer in Columbus, GA for over 10 years. Mr. Olliver was a manufacturing engineer and prior to his retirement in 1995 worked for Boeing, TRW, and Pratt-Whitney. Upon relocating to Horry County Mr. Olliver coached and refereed soccer at the Myrtle Beach YMCA and was a sports writer for the North Myrtle Beach Times; he also wrote for papers in Seattle, WA and Van Wert, OH.

Mr. Olliver was an avid golfer but most enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Olliver was predeceased by his parents; his sisters, Colleen Olliver and Gloria Smith; his brother, Rodney Olliver; his half-sister, Thelma (Robbie) Daniels; and his granddaughter, Brittany Raymond Arnold. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Mary Ellen Olliver; his daughters, Gina (Michael) Raymond and Lesley (Milt) Hoffman; his son, Sean Derek Olliver; his grandchildren, Adria (T.J.) Zimmerman, Carly Raymond, Trevor (Nikki) Dickson, Sean Olliver, and Seth Olliver; his great-grandchildren, Jessalyn Akers, Kianna and Korbin Arnold, Braelyn, Adisyn, and Cailyn Radecki, Riley Dickson, and Brittyn Zimmerman; and his brothers, Trevor (Gisela) Olliver and Leslie (Claudie) Olliver.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00PM Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at Union United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Christopher E. Arries. Please sign the online guest register at www.
