Obituary for Derek Salato Derek Salato Passed away unexpectedly, Thursday January 3, 2019. Age 33. Preceded in death by his infant brother David Salato, maternal grandparents John and Teresa Vidican and his paternal grandparents Felix and Lena Salato.

Survived by his loving parents David and Donna Salato, special cousin Melissa Horvat and godchild Kate Horvat. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. Derek graduated from St. Jude Grade School, Joliet Catholic Academy and University of Illinois Circle Campus.

His interests were technology driven. He enjoyed playing soccer and golf, and a fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Black Hawks. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home and Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Joliet on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 4 to 7 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 9:30 am from the funeral home to the St. Jude Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
