Obituary for Deron Gregory Duffey A memorial service for Deron Duffey, age 45, of Cross Plains, will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 AM. Deron passed away on Friday, May 4, 2018 in Brownwood.

Deron Gregory Duffey was born on May 16, 1972 in Dallas to Jimmy Duffey and Sharyn (Tucker) Hill. He was raised by his step-father, Bob Hill, Sr. and mother Sharyn Hill in Cross Plains, where he attended school and graduated in the Class of 1990. Following high school, Deron attended Texas Tech University.

He was a great athlete, loved Dallas Cowboy and Red Raider football, playing golf and his guitar. Deron is survived by his girlfriend, Vanica Jones and her daughters, Sarah, Abby and Jenna of Cross Plains; father, Jimmy Duffey of Duncanville; his siblings, Landon Hill and wife Teneal of Brownwood, Bob Hill, Jr, and his wife Stephanie of Ashland City, Tennessee, Danielle Hill and husband Cameron of Granbury, and Brannan Duffey of Colorado; nieces and nephews, Paisley Hill and Hunter Hill; Gabriel Hill, Robert Hill and Laura Criner of Tennessee, and Hayden, Corbyn, Corilea Hill and Haylee Ivey; his aunt, Susan Maddox and husband Danny of Abilene and great-uncle, Bill Wood and wife Barbara of Oklahoma; cousins, Chris Maddox, Melanie Maddox Besecker and Barry Brasher. Deron was preceded in death by parents, Bob and Sharyn Hill.

The family would like to express appreciation to everyone that cared for Deron in the past month: Solaris Hospice, Dr. Amy Tindol and Songbird Lodge.
