Diane M. Macera , age 70, died on November 10, 2018. Diane is survived by her beloved husband, Richard (Dick) Macera of Narragansett and Deerfield Beach, FL; her son, Richard Macera and his wife Deborah of Cranston, Christopher Macera and his wife, Alison of Saunderstown, and her beloved daughter, Michelle Macera of Providence and her partner, Catherine Piccamiglio and her four grandchildren, Sophia and Noah of Cranston and Leila and Elin of Saunderstown. Diane is survived by her four-great aunts; Angelina (Schiavulli) Rosati, Ann Rosati, Mae (Rosati) Izzi, Barbara (Rosati) Furia for whose love, dedication and prayers we are thankful.

She is preceded in death by her sister Deborah Rosati. Diane was the daughter of the late Louis (Gino) and Mary (Schiavulli) Rosati. She attended the University of Rhode Island and graduated from Rhode Island College with a degree in Education.

Diane taught Kindergarten at Saint Rocco’s School in Johnston prior to raising her beautiful family. Diane held the position of office manager for many Macera Family corporations for more than ten years. After her children were grown, Diane and her husband Richard became the proprietors of The Blue Grotto restaurant on Federal Hill for ten years (1997-2007).

Diane delighted being with her daughter Michelle, patrons and staff every night. Diane was a social and active woman who was deeply involved in the communities where she resided. She cherished days spent at the Galilee Beach Club, cooking for friends at her Deerfield Beach home and entertaining family and friends in her Narragansett home.

The family would like to extend our gratitude to Dr. Howard Saffron and his unmatched staff for their dedication and care during Diane’s illness. Thank you, Kayla (Rosati) Guarino for your unsurpassed love and compassion. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Thursday, November 15 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston, RI 02920.

All are welcome to attend the celebration of Diane’s life. Visiting hours will be held at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, RI 02910 on Wednesday from 3-7pm. Burial will be private.
