Dick’s Obituary Richard “Dick” Rein, 84, of Vivian, LA passed away Saturday, February 2, 2019. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at The United Methodist Church in Vivian officiated by Rev. Nick Wolfe and Rev.

Hart Clawson. There will be a time of visitation from 10 am until time of service at the church. Dick was born January 26, 1935 in Williamsport, PA to Harold Rein and Ruth Williams Rein.

He lived in Vivian for the past 50 years after moving from East Tennessee. Dick managed Ritz-Craft Manufactured Homes in Vivian, and he later owned and operated American Shelter Systems in Shreveport for several years. Later, he was an insurance broker in Vivian and served as Justice of the Peace for eight years.

He was a Notary Public and earned his paralegal degree from LSU-S. He managed Heritage Credit Union in Lafayette for twenty years until he retired. Dick was an active member of The United Methodist Church in Vivian.

He also helped lead a home Bible study for many years. He loved the Lord and enjoyed studying the Word of God. Dick attended the University of Tennessee and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

He remained an avid Vols fan his entire life. Another of Dick’s passions was North Caddo High School. He enjoyed attending events regularly at the school from the time his children attended until recent years when his health declined.

He has served as president of the North Caddo High School All Sports Club and was the voice of Rebels football on Friday nights for many years. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ruth Rein and son-in-law, Kirk Fillers. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Judy Rein of Vivian, LA; his children, Beth Liles and husband, Randy of Lafayette, LA, Alyson Fillers of Grapevine, TX, and Robert Rein of Vivian, LA; grandchildren, Shannon Chandler, Shelly Fontenot, Rein Liles, Carter Rein, Katie Fillers, Annie Fillers, and Emily Fillers; his nine great grandchildren; a beloved cousin Barbara Baldwin, brother-in-law David Hollingsworth and wife Janie, special daughter Cherie Rein, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to thank the entire staff at North Caddo Medical Center for their love, support, and exceptional care given to Mr. Rein. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriner’s Hospital.
