Dolly Sparks passed peacefully at her home in the Ashley Landing Assisted Living Center in North Charleston, SC at the age of 100 on January 2, 2019. She was born on November 13, 1918 to Mamie and Niles Plato Phillips in Waynesville, North Carolina. Dolly lived in Waynesboro, VA and married the love of her life, William Burnett Sparks on January 30, 1940.

Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of over 36 years and her daughters, Patricia Strailey and Barbara Lawing both of the Charleston, SC area. Dolly was also preceded by her mother, Mamie and father, Niles Plato Phillips; sisters, Edith Pittman of Baltimore, MD, Ruth Curry and Vivian Varner of Waynesboro, VA, Betty Ingraham of Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Robert Phillips of Staunton, VA, Charles Phillips of Waynesboro, VA and John Phillips of Baltimore, MD. Survivors include her brother, William Phillips of Sandersville, GA.

; her son, Phillip Sparks and wife, Camilla of Powhatan, VA, Sharon Smith and husband, Keith of Waynesboro, VA; grandchildren, Phillip Sparks and wife, Jessica of Midlothian, VA, Brandon Sparks and wife, Emily of Powhatan, VA, Graham Lawing and wife, Nicole of Ashville, NC, Eric Lawing and wife, Lindsey of Charleston, SC, Kyle Lawing of Greensville, SC, Nikki Cole and husband, John of Waynesboro, VA, Chris Smith of Waynesboro, VA; eleven great grandchildren, along with numerous cherished nieces, nephews and friends. The central theme of her life was Love of Family. Her life was centered towards family, home, and friends.

Her home was always open and she loved to spend time with loved ones both family and friends. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons. The family will receive friends and family on Tuesday January 8 at 10:00 A.M. at the Charlton and Groome Funeral Home, 619 Lifecore Drive, Fishersville, VA 23939.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Charlton and Groome following the visitation. A Graveside service to be held at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Rd. Waynesboro, VA 22980, immediately following the Celebration of Life.

Tom and Carol Varner will host a reception for family at their home in Waynesboro.
