Obituary for Dolores Marie “Dee” Anderson Dolores Marie “Dee” Anderson passed away following a stroke on Saturday afternoon April 21, 2018 in Butte surrounded by her family. Dee was born December 3, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert and Josephine (Lanzalotti) Special. She went to school and grew up in Chicago.

She met her first husband, Lewis Woody while he was stationed there. They had their first child (Jerry) while living in Chicago. When Lewis finished his term in the military they moved to his hometown, Butte, Montana.

Dee immediately fell in love with Montana and never wanted to leave. She only visited Chicago twice after that. Lewis and Dee bought a small log cabin, built onto it and raised their four children there.

Dee did baking, sewing, laundry, ironing and babysitting for neighbors and friends to help with income, especially strikes in the mines. Lewis passed away while working in the mines, leaving Dee to raise four teenagers alone. She worked at the Ponderosa to support her family.

While working there she met her 2nd husband, Vern Anderson. He was a lineman and traveled for his job. Dee was soon a stay at home mom, raising her 5th child.

Vern also passed away on the job. Dee went back to work as a janitress for the Montana Power Co. Several years later, she was able to retire and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, reading, solitaire, crossword puzzles and playing pinochle with family. She fought a long battle with dementia while at the Genesis Health and Rehab Center.

She was strong willed and determined right to the end. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Woody and Vern Anderson, her son, Gerald Woody, sisters Mickey McNamara and June McLaughen and grandsons, Drew Woody and Gerald Lewis Fellows. Survivors include her daughters, Terri Kilmer, Sharon Fellows (Alan), Kathy Anderson (James), and son, Gary Woody, step children, Dick Culver, Nicole Slattery and Mike Anderson.

Also surviving are her grandchildren, Donna Fellows (Earl), Heather Copenhaver (Joe), Candice McGillen, Colin Woody (Kalee) Jared Woody, great-grandchildren, Tyler Copenhaver, Ethan Allan, Jayden Woody, Jacson Woody, Agostina Woody, sisters, Rose Davis and Patty Dwyer and brother, Bill Dwyer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local VA Center or any local animal shelter.
