Obituary for Don Butler It is with saddened heart, that the family of Don Butler, announces his passing on Friday May 18th, 2018. Following a brief illness, Don entered into eternal rest at 87 years old, while residing in Winter Haven, Florida. Don is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jerrie Butler, his daughter Donna (Butler) Williams (Greg), his son Drew Butler (Erin), his step-daughter Debbie Owens and his step-son Donnie Owens Jr. Don had 3 grandchildren, McKenzie Butler Cochran (Brent), Christopher Butler and Weston Butler.

Don also had 3 step-grandchildren, Kayla Owens, Cole Cramer and Christian Cramer. Don had recently become a great-grandfather to Avett Cochran. Don was predeceased by his first wife of 44 years, June Butler.

Alfred Donald Butler was born in Toronto Canada on December 24th 1930, to Alfred and Dorothy Butler. Don owned Butler Insurance Agency in Toronto. In 1972, Don and his family re-located to Hilton Head Island, S.C., where he had a successful career as a real estate broker for Hilton Head Plantation.

While on Hilton Head, Don was a member of several island country clubs and he enjoyed an active role in the Heritage Golf Tournament in the early days of Hilton Head. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Don retired in 1994 and after 22 years on Hilton Head Island, he moved to Winter Haven, Florida.

He was a member and Deacon at Hope Presbyterian Church and a member of Lake Region Country Club. Don also lived in Greenwood S.C., where he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Greenwood Country Club. Don was an avid sports fan.

At a young age, he played youth league thru minor league hockey, but golf became his passion. He was well known for his love of golf through the many acquaintances and friends he made, while residing on Hilton Head and in Winter Haven Florida and Greenwood SC. Don truly loved his family and his extended family.

His ability to connect with so many people, to light up their lives with his humor, charm and entertaining spirit was felt by all that were lucky enough to meet him. Don will be remembered for his quick wit and a sense of humor that brought joy to everyone he met. He impacted the lives of so many…family, friends and strangers.

He excelled as a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle and friend. Thanks to Don Butler, our lives have truly been enriched. An 11:00 memorial service, with a reception following, will be held on Friday June 8th, at Hilton Head Presbyterian Church, at 235 William Hilton Parkway on Hilton Head Island, S.C., 29926.
