Don Moore, 90, of Emerson, AR died Friday, January 5, 2019 at the Magnolia Regional Medical Center in Magnolia, AR. Don was born September 2, 1928 in Emerson. He served in the United States Army as a Private First Class during World War II.

He formerly served as a deacon, assistance choir director, and Sunday school teacher at the Brister Baptist Church in Emerson. He was currently a member of the Rugged Cross Cowboy Church in Magnolia. Don was retired from Continental Airlines.

He served as recorder-treasurer and alderman in Emerson and also served as mayor of Emerson from 2015 until he retired on December 31, 2018. He was a member of the Columbia County Missions and the SAU Alumni Association. Don loved his family, his friends, fishing, gardening, bird watching, and his “little town” of Emerson.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jewel and Addie Mae Moore; wife of 57 years Mirene Waller Moore; brother Charles Moore; and sister Inez Wood. He is survived by his sons Ron Moore and wife Laurie of North West AR, Clay Moore and wife Kim of North, TX, Greg Moore and wife Felicia of Emerson, Scott Moore and wife Roberta of Dallas, GA; grandchildren Kris, Brad and wife Kristin, Lance and wife Natalie, Allen and wife Shyla, Tyler, Trevor, Colin, Dillon and wife Kaitlin, Carrie, Brinkley and husband Brian, and Lydia; great grandchildren Zack, Keaton, Wyatt, Jaxon, Max, Cannon, Weylin, Jensen, Zeb, Kyla, and Parker; honorary granddaughter Raigan Dew. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 29 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Home, Inc. in Magnolia.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 30 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rugged Cross Cowboy Church with Bro. Mike Launius and Bro. Eric Goble officiating.

Burial will follow at the Emerson Presbyterian Cemetery. Pallbearers will be his grandsons Kris Moore, Brad Moore, Lance Moore, Allen Moore, Tyler Moore, Trevor Moore, Colin Moore, and Dillon Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Zack, Keaton, Wyatt, Jaxon, Max, Cannon, Weylin, Jensen, and Zeb.
