Donald A. Peiffer, 85, of Genoa, died Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2018, at Arbors of Sylvania in Toledo. He was born June 21, 1933, in Genoa to William and Nellie (Cashen) Peiffer. On October 13, 1956, in Genoa he married Beverly Ann Happeny and she preceded him in death July 7, 2017.

Don was a graduate of Genoa High School and then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Don then retired from Pepper Construction out of Chicago, where he built shopping malls all over the eastern and southern parts of the United States. He also helped with local projects at the Village of Genoa Veterans Park and Genoa High School. Don served on the Genoa Schools Board of Education and also as a Clay Township Trustee. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and the K of C #4237 of Genoa.

Don is survived by his daughters, Julie Donnell of Woodville and Connie (Larry) Tucker of Lambertville, MI, and son, Tim Peiffer of Genoa; his grandchildren, Tyler Donnell, Andrea (Bob) Faurot, Chelse Tucker, Ben (Kristi) Tucker, Troy Tucker (Amber), Meghan Peiffer (Jake Parker) and Morgan (Joe) Pratt; and great grandchildren, Alexis, Noah, Brooklynn, Brynnlee, Stella, Graci, Mason, Arya and Jase. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Norbert, Richard, Russell and Herbert Peiffer and sisters, Pauline Hirst and Bertha Haas, and a special friend, Zach Diefenthaler. The family wants to thank Don’s special caregivers, Amy, Tami, Patrick, Mary, Becky and Janice, Arbors of Sylvania for the compassion and care he received and his granddaughter, Meghan, who helped with his care.

Visitation for Don will be 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home & Crematory, 501 West St., Genoa. The funeral service will be private and burial will take place in Clay Township Cemetery. The family has suggested that memorials be given to Hospice of Northwest, 30000 E. River Rd.
