Obituary for Donald E. Korte Donald E. Korte, 89, of Delphos, died at 3:57 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018 at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice. He was born Nov.
11, 1929, in Cuba, OH, the son of Valentine M. and Mary Ann (Bockrath) Korte who preceded him in death. On Apr. 24, 1957, he married June M. Miller who survives in Delphos.
Also surviving are three children: Anthony Wayne (Sharon) Korte of North Olmstead, Rose M. (Jack) Kennealy of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Virginia L. (Stephen) Korte-Shaw of Elida; two grandchildren: Caitlin Korte of Jefferson City, MO and John A. Kennealy of Englewood, CO. He also is survived by a brother, Larry E. (Carolyn) Korte of Glandorf. A son, David Donald Korte preceded him in death on Nov.
21, 2015, and a brother, James Korte. Don was active in the trucking industry from 1947 until his death. In his lifetime, he worked for 37 years with Standard Oil-B.P.
He had many interesting part-time jobs during his life. He served in the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army, The Old Guard 3rd Infantry. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos, a member of the American Truck Historical Society of which he enjoyed many of their conventions, and a former member of the Delphos Police Auxiliary.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #471, Delphos. He enjoyed reading, travelling and had a great sense of humor. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m., Thursday, Dec.
20, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, with Fr. Charles Obinwa officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 2-8 p.m. at Weber Funeral Home, Delphos, where a Parish Wake Service will be held Wednesday evening. Prayers will be held beginning at 10:30 on Thursday morning in the funeral home prior to processing to church. Memorial contributions may be made to American Truck Historical Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Delphos St. John’s Schools, Boys and Girls Town, Ohio Right to Life or Community Health Professional Hospice.
