Obituary for Norbert J. Grothause Norbert J. ‘Nub’ Grothause, age 83, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 7:06 A.M. at Vancrest Healthcare Center, Delphos His Family… He was born June 28, 1934 in Ft. Jennings to Richard and Marie (Krieft) Grothause, who both preceded him in death. On August 20, 1960, he married Dorothy (Miller-Rode) Grothause, who survives in Delphos.
He is also survived by a son, Chris (Jane) Rode of Delphos; four daughters, Annette (Terry) Ralston of Spencerville, Genean (Doug) Corwin of Lima, Peggy (Tom) Williams of Delphos, and Laurie (Steve) Casebolt of Lima; a daughter-in-law Maria Grothause; a brother, Michael (Pat) Grothause ; two sisters, Helen Kaverman and Beth (Larry) Metzger; sisters-in-law; Jean, Mary, Marcia Grothause, Monica Miller, Sr. Toni Rode; brothers-in-law Art Rode, and Ron(Mary Lou) Rode; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Duane Grothause; and three brothers, James, Hubert and Paul Grothause; brothers-in-law, Hubert Kaverman, John Trentman, H.H. Koester, and Don Miller; sisters-in-law, Norma Trentman and Pat Rode. His Legacy….
Nub graduated from Ft. Jennings High School in 1952. He farmed and raised registered polled Hereford cattle for 10 years prior to his employment as retail manager at Crop Production Services in Delphos retiring in 1996.
He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He was a member of K of C Council 1362 Delphos. He was very involved with St. John’s Church and school for many, many years involving himself in numerous programs and projects.
He was also a 4-H advisor for many years. He was very involved with the Canal Museum, Postal Museum, and the Stadium Club. Nub was the 2017 Delphos Herald man of the year.
His Farewell Services. … A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Rev.
Dennis Walsh and Rev. David Ross will be officiating. Burial of ashes will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ottoville.
Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Weber Funeral Home, 1840 E. Fifth St., Delphos, where a K of C Rosary will be said at 7:45 followed by a Parish Wake Service at 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John Church Foundation.
