Donald E. Ward, 80, Hollidaysburg, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at The Lutheran Home at Hollidaysburg. He was born April 27, 1937, in Fairview, Butler County, son of the late Edward and Catherine (Graham) Ward. In 1967, he married Bonnie M. Alexander in Butler.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years; a daughter, Kimbrea L. Bednarik in Maryland; a son, Edwin F. and wife, Michelle, in Ohio; a grandson, Andrew; and a sister, Gladys C. Moore of Berwick. Donald was a 1955 graduate of Fairview Township-Karns City Joint Consolidated High School. He graduated in 1959 from Grove City College.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He retired as a teacher from Spring Cove Jr. High School, and from the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation. He was a member of the Unitarian-Universalist Church, Altoona and was a member of the Logan Civil War Band in Altoona, and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity.

Donald enjoyed being a volunteer tutor through the Literary Council. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at The First Presbyterian Church, Hollidaysburg, the Revered Cindy Carlise officiating. Immediately following Military Honors will be performed by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard.
