Obituary for Donald Howard Holt Donald Howard Holt, 90 of South Connellsville, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 21, 2018. He was born February 5, 1928 in Bullskin Township, a son of the late Howard and Mabel(Brooks) Holt. Don was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the Class of 1945.
He served in the US Army/Air Force as a Corporal from 1946-1949. He was employed by B & O, Chessie System and CSX Railroads from 42 years from which he retired in 1985. He and his wife Charlotte, enjoyed traveling out west and spending winters in Florida where he proudly grew tomatoes to bring back home in the Spring.
He was a lifetime member of South Connellsville Fireman’s Club, and a member of the Elks, Eagles, Moose, VFW, and Polish Clubs of Connellsville, the American Legion of Donegal and The American Veterans Association of Zephyrhills, Florida. In His lifetime Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and coaching Little League Baseball. He also enjoyed his Vegetable Garden and Fruit Trees.
He looked forward to watching Steelers Games with his family and enjoying the beautiful sunsets and views from his front porch where he could see for miles. Don is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 68 years, Charlotte Caroline (Kerns) Holt. In addition to his wife, Don will be sadly missed by fondly remembered by his loving family, his daughters, Jacqulyn (Jackie) Bartholomai, Dawn R. Ward and husband Mark all of South Connellsville and Bobbi J. Miller and husband Kenneth of Dunbar.
His sons, James (Jim) Holt and girlfriend Marcie of Bakersville and Bret Holt and wife Mary of South Connellsville, grandchildren, Tina Bartholomai, Lisa(Bartholomai) Carpenter and husband Scott, William(Bill) Bartholomai and girlfriend Sadie, Jodie Bartholomai, Kenneth (KJ) Miller and wife Tracy, Randa Miller, Stephanie(Holt) Dominick and husband Joe, Matthew Holt, Andrew Holt and Joshua Hartman and girlfriend Tiffany, great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jessie Dierket, Dominique, Madalyn, Chelsea, and Mia Bartholomai, Morgann Basinger, AJ Dominick, Justine, Cole and Jayden Kooser and Shane Knowlson as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He is survived by a sister, Gladys LaPorte and a brother, Timothy Holt and wife Janie. Don is also survived by his lifelong railroad friend John(Jack) Tressler.
In addition to his parents, Don was predeceased by a brother, Jay Sanford(Sam) of San Diego, California, and sisters, Laura (Sis) Breakiron of Bullskin and Delores (Hoke) Holt of Connellsville, a Son-In-Law, George (Bill) Bartholomai, Twin Granddaughters, Charlotte Caroline and Dorothy Jane Holt. Twin-Great-Granddaughters, Emma and Hannah Bartholomai. The Family would like to extend a special Thank You to Amedisys Hospice Care, Caring Missions Home Care,Home Instead Senior Care and The VA for all of their kind and passionate care of Don during the past few years.

Family and Friends will be received Sunday, September 30, from 1-3:00 P.M. at The Brooks Funeral Home, Inc. 111 E.
