Donald Paul Foret, 73, of Hattiesburg, died on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Forrest General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Richburg Baptist Church in Hattiesburg, MS with a visitation from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the church. Donald was born on January 26, 1945 to Davis and May Foret and on February 8, 1964 he married the love of his life, Willa Thompson Foret.

He was a member of Richburg Baptist Church and was a licensed preacher, Deacon and choir member and a fan of Southern Gospel Music. He is preceded in death by his parents, Davis and May Pertuit Foret; step-mother, Anna Chedotal Foret; two brothers, Norris Foret and Samuel Foret; and four sisters, Alice Mae Pierce, Enid Dimarco, Lydia Folse and Gertrude Chiasson.

He was an antique car enthusiast and mechanic of all things equipment and men, always there to help people deal with their own personal losses and become their rock. He led through his kind, caring spirit and an unbelievable work ethic that he readily demonstrated through his example as a mentor to many. Donald worked until the age of 71, retiring from Enterprise Products and had just celebrated two years of retirement.

He was the first mechanic in the U. S. to be trained on the original Mazda rotary engine in the 1970’s. He owned and operated a Kenworth 18 wheeler sand and gravel business. He enjoyed planting and maintaining his annual garden and keeping a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed bird watching and witnessing the beauty of God’s creation with the love of his life. Donald is survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Willa Foret of Hattiesburg; a daughter, Sandy (Matthew) Edmonds of Prairieville, LA; two sons, Todd (Charlotte) Foret of Gilbert, AZ, Audie (Julie) Foret of Sheridan, Ark. ; three brothers, Allen (Louise) Foret of Raceland, LA, Clarence Foret of Dunedin, FL, Leonard (Muyesser Seker) Foret of Benbrook, TX; two sisters, Vickie Chiasson of Chackbay, LA, May Catherine Young of Raceland, LA; eight grandchildren, Erika (Jermie) Ide, Davy Foret, Allison Foret, Kelly Foret, Aubrey Brixey, Mandy Edmonds, Jack Foret, Hayden Edmonds; and four great-grandchildren, Garrett Ide, Vivienne Ide, Kade Alario, Drake Foret.
