Margaret Jane Lancaster passed away at her home in Hattiesburg on July 17, 2018 at the age of ninety-one. Jane was born on December 14, 1926 in Silver City, Mississippi, the only child of Robert Marion and Geneva Coleman Lancaster. After completing high School, she moved to Bolton, Mississippi and lived with the C.D. Lancaster family while attending Hinds Junior College.

She then lived and worked with United Gas/Pennzoil in Jackson, Mississippi and Shreveport, Louisiana. She had lived in Hattiesburg… Read More » since 2004. Jane was a member of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with the Meals on Wheels program along with other activities.

She had previously been a member of Capitol Street UMC in Jackson and Broadmoor UMC in Shreveport. Jane is survived by first cousins, Robert C. Lancaster, C.D. (Mary Glynn) Lancaster, William N. (Kathryn) Lancaster, John (Betty) Lancaster, Betty Lou Robertson, Marjorie Wood, and Ann Ball. Although she had no siblings, she was “Aunt Jane” to many second and third cousins who also survive her.

The family wishes to express sincerest thanks to caregivers, Jan Nielsen, Evelyn Brinson, and Susanna Kropff for lovingly and faithfully caring for Jane for almost five years. Service honoring Jane’s life will be held Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home in Hattiesburg. Visitation will begin one hour before the service.

Burial, in Highland Cemetery, will follow the service. Those wishing to make memorial gifts may contribute to Parkway Heights United Methodist Church or a charity of choice.
