Donald’s Obituary Donald Ray Toms, 96, of Hagerstown, passed away, Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his home. Born September 9, 1922 in Edgemont, Md. he was the son of the late, Ira and Thelma (Hornbaker) Toms.

In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by his loving wife of 67 years, Nalda Lucille (Griffith) Toms; two brothers, Bernard L. Toms and Dennis A. Toms; four sisters, Ruby John, Doris Wolfensberger, Lois Murray and Tempe Gearinger and a great grandson, Jordan Morris. Mr. Toms was a US Army veteran of WWII where he served in Pattons 3rd Army Co. I 106th Division in France, Germany and Belgium and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a member of Washington Square United Methodist Church, Hagerstown; B.P.O.Elks Lodge 378; Morris Frock American Legion Post 42; longtime member of the Alsatia Club; past president of the West End Lions Club; co-founder of the West End Minor League Baseball and a member of several square dance clubs.

He is survived by one son, Ricky S. Toms and wife, Stephanie of Mercersburg, Pa. ; one daughter, Donna S. Drenner and husband, Denny of Hagerstown; one brother, Marvin E. Toms of Hagerstown; five grandchildren, Gina Drenner-White, Tanya Morris and husband, John, Christopher Drenner and wife, Elicia, Shaynna Wentzel and husband, David and Hannah Toms; ten great grandchildren, Shelby, Jared, Casey, Noah, Lorelei, Kailah, Finn, Sydney, Griffin and Killian; two great great grandchildren, Thatcher and Katherine and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Rest Haven Funeral home, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave.

, Hagerstown with Rev. Jerry Lowans officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
