Donald ‘Rusty’ Lee Royer 62, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away April 23, 2018. He was born March 14, 1956 to Robert Royer and Jerry (Herndon) Royer Smith. Rusty is survived by his wife of 15 years, Missy (Weathers) Royer; children Amanda Vester (Derek), Jon Royer (Katanna), Josh Green (Lori), Dustin Green (Alexis), and Zac Green (special friend Kelly); grandchildren Duke Royer, Kenzie Green, Jacob Green, Lola Green, Marley Green, and a new grandson due in June; siblings Nancee Royer-Callahan, Bob Royer (Teri), Danny Royer, and Susie Denny (Rob); and several beloved nieces and nephews.

He worked at Standard Register for nearly 30 years and most recently at Hulman Links. Rusty played and coached many sports in the Wabash Valley area over the years. He was an avid golfer and also played for several slow and fast pitch softball teams.

He was always proud to cheer on his kids and grandkids as they pursued their passions. In addition to his great love for his wife, kids, grandkids and dogs he loved music, especially the Eagles and Jimmy Buffett. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step father Bill Smith, and his brother Terry Smith.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2018, from 2-5 p.m. at The Saratoga Restaurant. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rusty’s name to the Terre Haute Humane Society or Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Greiner Funeral Home.
