Donald Ray Ward, 82, of Owensboro, died on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at his home. He was born August 26, 1936 in Whitesville, KY to the late Marvin Ward and Lessie Evans Ward. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Owensboro River Sand and Gravel and a surface coal miner for 25+ years.

Donald served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Linda Gordon Ward; daughter, Arleta Kay Weidemann (John); son, Daymon Ward (Karla); grandchildren, Jonathan Daniel Weidemann (Ashley), Mason Ward and Madeline Ward; siblings, Orville Ward, Mary Lee May, Ozella Jennings and Ruth “Deanie” Smiley. Services will be at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 in the chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation is from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
