Obituary for Donna Jane Smith Donna Jane Smith, age 81, of Sebree, KY, passed away at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Henderson Nursing and Rehabilitation under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Donna was born in Fulton, KY to the late Louie and Annie Pickle in 1937. The family moved to Evansville in the late 1940s.

Donna graduated from F.J. Reitz High School where she often demonstrated her talent as a singer and piano player. She met the love of her life on a double date (even though he was her cousin’s date and not hers! ).

She married her sweetheart, Bob, in 1954 and together they travelled as he served our country in the United States Army. When Bob’s service was complete, they eventually settled in Sebree where Donna worked as a sales representative and model for Armour Mobile Homes. After working with a few other companies, including Anaconda Aluminum, Donna decided to start her own daycare.

She opened Sebree Daycare in 1985 and ran it for 25 years. Donna was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ; most recently active in the Poole Congregation. Donna loved growing flowers; she had indoor and outdoor gardens she enjoyed tending to.

Donna’s family has always been her truest joy and her greatest gift. Donna is survived by her adoring husband of 64 years, Bob Smith; daughter Tonya Knight and her husband, Brett; sons Allen Smith and his wife, Vicki, and Tony Smith; grandchildren: Angela Dukes and her husband, Sammie, Joshua Smith, Thad Knight and his wife, Ashley, Daniel Knight and Jorden, Autumn Herrington and her husband, John; and great grandchildren: Colbie Dukes, Katelyn Smith, Coraline Knight, and Scarlett Knight. Relatives and friends are invited to Donna’s Life Celebration from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home and again on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Christ on 12th street in Henderson.

The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the church with brother James Palmer officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Evansville, IN. Arrangements entrusted to Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, A Life Celebration® Home, online condolences may be made at www.
