Donna’s Obituary With profound sadness we announce the passing of Donna, our loving and devoted mother, Gammy and friend to all whose lives she touched, on Wednesday, January 30, 2019. She left us at her home in Portland, Maine after courageously fighting a long illness without complaint. She was in her 72nd year.

She was born Donna Erb in Biddeford, Maine on August 31,1946 and was raised by her beloved grandparents, Arthur and Helen (Lincoln) Emmons in Scarborough, Maine where she attended local schools, taking pride in being a Scarborough Redskin. As a military wife, she traveled the country before settling down at her favorite place on earth, Higgins Beach in Scarborough, Maine where she lived the majority of her life. Her love of Higgins Beach never diminished.

A true patriot, Donna was a member of VFW Post 832 serving tirelessly in the Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She had a great respect for our military, country and flag and enjoyed baking cookies for the local Scarborough police and fire departments to show her support. She loved to bake, kept an immaculate house, and was highly skilled with crochet hooks and needlepoint.

A country girl at heart, gardening was also a passion. She was an avid fan of the Kansas City Chiefs, Jimmy Buffet and NCIS. In addition, she was a professional “Facebooker” who enjoyed her many friends and was notorious for, “It’s a Gibbs night!

! ! Wooo hooo!

! ! ” Her favorite role in life however was being a mom and a Gammy.

She was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and acted as a chauffeur, attending every activity her children participated in. In addition to her grandparents Donna is predeceased by her mother, Pauline Erb, sisters, Sharon Sawyer and Paulette Fenderson and her Brother William (Billy) Erb. She is survived by her daughter Cheryl Gallant of Scarborough; her daughter Sandi Gallant Catropa and her wife Gayle of Oceanside, New York; her son Joseph Henry Gallant, III and his wife Debra of Scarborough; and her grandson Joseph Henry Gallant, IV of Scarborough.
