Obituary for Donna Zabarsky Donna M. (nee Flegal) Zabarsky, 88, of Painesville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, at Altercare of Mentor Nursing Facility. She was born May 23, 1930, in Clearfield, Pa.

Donna was a member of Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, where she established the Good Samaritan Fund, was a lifetime member of United Methodist Women, and helped in founding the Lake County Church Network, serving as its director until 2008, the Kings Kids Club, Journey to the Manger and food pantry. She also taught Bible classes, Sunday School classes and Adult Bethel classes. Donna enjoyed embroidery, making personal life calendars and her own greeting cards, was the “Honorary Grandma” for the Lake County Captains, and loved “her” Cleveland Indians.

Mrs. Zabarsky worked as an office manager at Superior Machine Products for many years, and was also an ombudsman for the Lake County Courts. She was the loving mother of Dianna Moyer, and Daniel A. Zabarsky (Laurel Fuller); cherished grandmother of George (Cindy) Moyer lll, Renee (Mark) Stupka, Donald J. Zabarsky, Trina Zabarsky, Joe Zabarsky, Erica (Brian) Lee, Marissa Zabarsky, Kyle Zabarsky and Kendra Cadover; great-grandmother of George Moyer IV, Shannon Engler, Jared Marthe, Joshua Marthe, Torri Lee, Sean Zabarsky, Kiley Zabarsky, Owen Mani, Jason Calloway, Garin Zabarsky and Bryan Robinson; great-great-grandmother of Levi Marthe, Ashlynn Engler, Sebastian Engler and Isabella Engler; former “grandmother-in-law,” of Kenneth Marthe (also his beloved children Elijah and Erin); sister of Glenda Dougherty, Donald (Debbie) Flegal, and Gerald (Pam) Flegal; Bob and Ruth Bitter, who were considered her daughter and son; and best friends, Ruth Kunsman and Betty Thomas. Donna was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Zabarsky; son, Donald H. Zabarsky; son-in-law, George Moyer; sister, Patricia Vokes; and brothers-in-law, James Dougherty and Robert Vokes.

Memorial service for Donna will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, at Mentor Plains United Methodist Church, 7271 Lakeshore Blvd. , Mentor, where family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
