Donnie Mae (Wells) VanHorn was born June 25, 1927, in Hanna, OK to Harvey Edmond & Beulah (Tyler) Wells. She departed this life on Friday, August 31, 2018 in Chouteau, OK at the age of 91 years 2 months & 6 days. On September 27, 1946, Donnie & Morris E. VanHorn were united in marriage.

They had lived in Blocker, OK, & Salinas, California, before moving to Eufaula, OK for several years. Eventually the couple settled at Chouteau Point, near Locust Grove in 2000. Donnie… Read More » had worked as a line worker for the Navel Ammunition Plant in Savanna, OK for some time.

She attended the First Baptist Church in Chouteau, OK. Donnie loved fishing & hunting. She also enjoyed sewing & making quilts.

Donnie is survived by: 1 daughter: Shirley French & husband Tom of Locust Grove, OK; 3 grandchildren: Jennifer Murray & husband Brian of Locust Grove, OK, Christi Thomas & husband Josh of Elk City, OK, & Melissa Caskey & husband Todd of Tulsa, OK. 8 grandchildren: Grant Murray, Carson Murray, Abigail Thomas, Caroline Thomas, Georgia Thomas, Aidan Caskey, Elliott Caskey, & Oliver Caskey. 1 sister: Nita Scholtz & husband Richard of Dallas, TX.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; & 3 brothers. Private family services to be held at a later date. Burial was at the Chouteau North Cemetery in Chouteau, Oklahoma.

Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home.
