Dora’s Obituary Dora L. Jelks Thomas Born May 30, 1930 Laurel, FL – Deceased Feb. 7, 2019 Daytona Beach, FL Spouse: David Thomas Sr. Deceased Parents: Willie Anderson Sr (Deceased) & Clara Jelks (Deceased) Brothers and Sisters: Willie Jelks-Anderson Jr (Deceased), Clarence Jelks-Anderson (Deceased), Willie Oliver Jelks-Williams (Deceased ), Doris Jelks-Robinson (Deceased), Ollie May Jelks-Mayes (Deceased) and Nathaniel Jelks-Williams (Deceased) Survived By: Jerry Anderson (son), David Thomas Jr. (son) and Ronnie J. Thomas (son), more than a dozen grandchildren, over 35 great-grandchildren, a number of great-great-grandchildren and several great-great-great-grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dora moved to Daytona Beach in the summer of 1956 with her husband and three sons. She found work part-time as a house maid in the Ormond Beach and Daytona Shores areas and was a full-time wife and mother. Growing up in a Christian household herself, she embraced Christ and guided her family using the Bible principles she loved.

She and her family originally joined Shilo Baptist church and later became a member and faithful worker at New Mt Zion Baptist Church from that time until her departure from this world. She was active in the Daytona beach community and in her later years was referred to as “MOM” by many of her children’s friends and some of her own friends who saw her as the perfect mother figure; especially for those who had lost their own. She will be forever loved and missed by all those she helped and whose lives she touched.
