OBITUARY Doris Evelyn Cowell November 13, 1929 – September 20, 2018 Doris E. Cowell, 88, of Louisville, KY died peacefully on September 20th, 2018 at Baptist Hospital. She was born in Louisville and graduated from Louisville Girls High School. She is preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mary Jo Begley and her husband Philip E. Cowell.

Doris lived most of her life in Lyndon, KY where she raised her 5 children, James (his partner Betsy), David (Tata), Mark (Lynne), Nancy Jo, and Kelly, plus a number of beloved dogs! She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Sean, Jessica, Annie, David, Missy, Justin and Taylor; and 3 great grandchildren, Molly, Nora and Rylie. Doris was fond of saying “I never met a stranger” reflecting her love of people and new adventures.

She was well traveled, including most of the U.S., Canada and Europe. Her passions were her dogs (cute Sadie was her last), bird watching and clowns, the glass figurine version of which she had an extensive collection. She had more friends than you can shake a stick at and of course her fellow parishioners at Beargrass Christian Church.

Doris loved our great country and had an unwavering faith in the Lord. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 23 from 1-6 PM at Arch L. Heady and Son at Westport Village. A funeral service will be held in Doris’ honor on Monday at 10 AM at Beargrass Christian Church, 4100 Shelbyville Rd.

Entombment will follow the service at Resthaven Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made in Doris’s name to the Humane Society. Please visit www.
